Maybe this just didn't resonate with me because I come from a family that is completely different (although certainly with our own issues & complexities). Or maybe my mood wasn't right for it. Our feelings about books can be so subjective, which is why it's always good to read a few different reviews! I felt like she hit the nail on the head with her thoughts on her somewhat absent father, step mothers, half sibling, etc. It was like she put into eloquent words exactly what had been going on in my head. And - maybe the lack of details didn't bother me as much because I could somewhat supply them myself based on my own experience.
